Echeveria elegans is a popular rosette-forming succulent native to Mexico. It is widely grown for its graceful, symmetrical appearance and ease of care.

Origin and Habitat

This species naturally occurs in rocky, well-drained soils of semi-arid regions with mild temperatures. It thrives in environments with seasonal rainfall and bright sunlight.

Plant Description

Echeveria elegans forms compact, symmetrical rosettes of smooth, fleshy leaves that are pale green to bluish-gray with a powdery coating. The leaves have a slightly rounded tip and a soft texture. During late spring to summer, the plant produces slender flower stalks bearing small, bell-shaped pink to coral flowers.

Care Instructions

Light
Prefers full sun to bright, indirect light. Insufficient light can cause stretching.

Watering
Water moderately during the growing season, allowing the soil to dry out completely between waterings. Reduce watering in winter.

Soil
Use a well-draining cactus or succulent soil mix.

Temperature
Ideal temperatures range from 15°C to 27°C. Protect from frost.

Additional Information

Echeveria elegans is easily propagated from leaf or stem cuttings. Its elegant rosettes make it a popular choice for rock gardens, container planting, and mixed succulent arrangements. It is drought-tolerant and suited to warm, dry climates.
